Early Fall 2009

Fall 2009 quarter has started for 2 weeks already. My schedule has not been done yet. With my new responsibility, the president of College of Engineering and Science Graduate Student Council (COES GSC), I am recalled the time that I was a part of Sciex'05. First thing first as always, recruiting new members of the council is my first priority. Fortunately, I have a friend, a last-year member, to help me out. Actually, she is the main person recruiting students. Since the council has been founded for two years, but nothing has been done, my friend and I are going to push hard.

We expect to have the initial team by next week, and we gonna have the kick-off meeting within early October.

For my research, there is a complicated issue since the beginning of the quarter, but it is getting better, I guess. :p I've planned to have most of my dissertation content by the end of the Winter quarter, the latest is in Spring quarter, because I also planned to be a teaching assistant in Fall 2010. Now I'm crossing my finger and hope my plan will be followed.

BLAST 2009, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM

Last week I attended the BLAST conference. BLAST stands for Boolean Algebras, Lattices, Algebraic Logic, Quantum Logic, Universal Algebra, Algebraic Logic, Set Theory, Set-theoretic Topology and Point-free Topology. This conference does not directly relate to my research, but I have talked with the ex-director of my program, Dr.Greechie who is an expert in Orthomodular lattices, about my research. He suggested me to study something in lattice and asked me to attend this conference with his group.

I went with Dr.Kanno, a math professor, and two Chinese PhD students, Wu and Sam. Dr.Greechie left two days before us.

I'm so grad I went to this conference for many reasons.

First, at the reception Dr.Greechie introduced me to his friend, Dr.Pratt who is a computer scientist who comprehends s a lot of algebraic stuffs. We discussed about my research and he suggested me a way to model my problem. I'm reading his paper and collect questions to ask him.

The reception was at the Walkers' home. Thank you for the great home and food.

Second, this trip was an advanture. The rental car is Mazda 3 2008, but it is in bad condition. The right back tire was punctured by a nail since when we didn't know, so we had to stop at Dallas to patch the tire. I brought my GPS with me but unfortunately we could not use it because the car outlet was broken. However, we arrived Las Cruces safely. In the last night, the fire alarm at our hotel went off around 2:30am. and after that I could not sleep until 4:30am. On the way back, we stopped in El Paso, TX to change all tires just in case because there would be a storm on the way back. So we will arrive at the hotel we reserved late around 1:00am. But that was not it. There is a border partol station and they wanted to check our passport and greencard. There were ten of them around our car and asked a few questions. I drove from 10:30pm and, when we were about to arrive the hotel, the map I printed in the morning was wrong, and there was no hotel at the exit. But we found the hotel at last. We arrived the hotel as expected 1:00am.

Third, I like New Mexico State U campus a lots. It is so neat, so clean, and beautiful. Moreover, there are a lot of restaurants in many varieties, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Pacific Rim, Mexican, Indian, and etc. The scenary was new to me, a dessert view. The excursion of this conference is to go for White Sands National Monument.

We arrived Ruston around 5:00pm. and had dinner together and Aig joined us too. Tomorrow Aig and I will join a party at Dr.Greechie's home. We will bring Tom Yum Kung ต้มยำกุ้ง and Satay Pork หมูสะเตะ.

ทำนู่นทำนี่จนลืม up เรื่องไป atlanta เลย ก็คงจะเล่าสั้นๆ ว่าไปที่ไหนอีกบ้าง

วันที่สองไป Georgia Aquarium มนอยากไปดู whale shark พอไปเห็นแล้ว ตัวเล็กกว่าที่คิด แต่ก็อลังการอยู่ดี การจัดโซนต่างๆ เหมือนที่ Siam Ocean World เลย ต้องบอกว่า ของเราจัดคล้ายๆเค้า แต่ก็น่าจะคล้ายๆกันทุกที่

อีกวันนึงก็ไป Coca Cola World มนชอบหนัง 4D มากเลย ดีที่สุดเท่าที่เคยดูมาแล้ว แต่ที่เด็ดที่สุดของที่นี่ คือ ได้ชิมน้ำของ Coca Cola จากทั่วโลก ลืมไปแล้วว่ากี่ชนิด แต่เยอะมาก เพิ่งรู้ว่า Apple Kiwi เป็นสูตรของประเทศไทยเอง

ตอนบ่ายก็ไปเดินเล่นแถวๆ State Capitol ของ Georgia ก็เหมือนๆกับทุก state capitol ที่ไปมา

ตอนเย็นก็หาไรกินเหมือนเดิม

วันก่อนกลับก็ไป ซื้อของไทยกลับบ้าน แล้วก็กลับมานอนเล่นที่โรงแรม

วันรุ่งขึ้นมนก็เอกก็ขับรถกลับ มนก็นั่งเป็นคุณนายเหมือนเดิม อิอิ

Atlanta Summer 2009 (1)

วันนี้ได้ฤกษ์ มาอัพเรื่องราวที่ไปที่ Atlanta, Georgia ซะที หลังจากกลับมาแล้วสองสัปดาห์

ผู้ร่วมเดินทาง: เอก และ มนเอง (คงเดากันได้)

ออกเดินทางวันที่ 8 มิถุนายน:

ตอนเช้ามนมีสัมมนา ก็เลยออกประมาณเที่ยงๆได้ ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 9 ชั่วโมง ก็กะกันว่าจะถึงประมาณสามทุ่ม ก็ไม่ดึกไป แต่มนลืมไปว่า Atlanta เป็น eastern time ก็จะเร็วกว่าที่มนอยู่ชั่วโมงนึง ก็เลยไปถึงประมาณสี่ทุ่มนิดๆ แม่เจ้า น่ากลัวมาก พอเข้าถึงตัว downtown ก็เห็นกลุ่มคนดำเป็นกลุ่มๆ เหมือนเป็นแก๊งก์ๆ แล้วรถก็ติดไฟแดงไอ้ตรงสี่แยกนั่นแหละ บรรยากาศก็เครียมค่ะ ไม่รู้เค้าจะเดินมาทำไรรึเปล่า แล้วก็มีคนเดินไปเดินมาอยู่กลางสี่แยกเหมือนคนเมาด้วย พอไฟเขียวก็ขับต่อ สรุปทั้งถนนก็ออกแนวๆนั้น ซึ่งใกล้โรงแรมมาก พอ GPS บอกว่าถึงโรงแรมแล้ว ปรากฎว่าประตูโรงแรมที่เห็นๆอยู่มันปิด ก็เลยขับตรงไป มึดโคตรๆ ก็ไม่เห็นว่าประตูไหนเปิด เอกก็ขับรถเลย ต้องไปวนมา ต้องผ่านสี่แยกเดิมอีก ก็เสียวกันอีกรอบนึง แต่ก็ดีหน่อยเพราะมีตำรวจมาแล้ว พอรอบนี้ขบวนรอบโรงแรมอีกด้านนึง กว่าจะเห็นประตูที่เหิด เอกก็ขับรถเลยไปแล้ว สรุปก็ต้องวน ผ่านสี่แยกเดิม ระทึกเหมือนเดิม เป็นเวลาสามครั้ง check in โรงแรมสี่ทุ่มกว่าๆ เรื่องไม่คาดคิดก็เกิดขึ้น ต้องจ่ายตังค์ค่าที่จอดรถในโรงแรมคืนละ $15 มนอยู่ 5 คืนก็จ่ายกันไป

วันแรกที่ Atlanta 9 มิถุนายน:

ตืนกันประมาณ 9 โมงได้ (โคตรเช้าเลย เพราะมันคือ 8 โมงของพวกมน) เพื่อไป High Musuem of Art

High Musuem of Art เล็กกว่าที่ Art Musuem ที่ Dallas ที่มนไปกับนุ่น แล้ว Exhibition ก็ค่อนข้างธรรมดา แต่มี บางส่วนที่นำมาจาก Louvre ซึ่งไม่สามารถถ่ายรูปได้ ที่นี่มนไม่ได้ถ่ายรูปมาก ก็เดินกันอยู่หลายชั่วโมงเหมือนกันขึ้นๆลงๆ มีสามตึกได้ ออกจากที่ High ประมาณ 3 โมง

ก็เลยขับรถไปแถว Centennial Olympics Park เป็นโซนที่เคยจัดแข่งโอลิมปิค ว่าจะหาที่จอดรถแล้วลงไปถ่ายรูป พอไปถึงที่จอดรถต้องต่ายตังค์หมดเลย ถูกสุดก็ $5 ได้ แล้วก็ร้อนมากกกกก สุดท้ายก็แค่ขับรถวน แล้วก็ไปหาของกิน

ด้วยความที่มนอยากกินอาหารจีนแบบที่ไม่ใช่อยู่ตาก Chinese Buffet ที่นี่ ก็เลยไปที่ถนนนึง ที่ขึ้นชื่อว่ามีอาหารหลายประเทศ ขับรถวนไปวนมาอยู่เกือบชั่วโมงได้ ก็เลือกร้านอาหารจีนชื่อ Yen Jing สั่งอาหารมาสามอย่าง เกี๊ยว ปลากระพงทำแบบที่พ่อครัวต้องการ แล้วก็ผัดเห็ดอะไรก็ไม่รู้ อร่อยมากมาย สั่งข้าวมาด้วย ก็ไม่รู้ว่าเค้าคิดตังค์รึเปล่า เดินมาถามตลอดเลยว่าจะเอาข้าวเพิ่มรึเปล่า พวกมนก็กินกันไปคนละถ้วย สุดท้ายตอนคิดตังค์ ข้าวฟรี น้ำชาฟรี คิดแค่ค่ากับข้าวโคตรดีเลย

ลืมเล่าว่าก่อนไปที่ร้านอาหารแวะซื้อหนังสือที่ก่อน ซื้อเรื่อง Deception Point กับ Digital Fortress ของ Dan Brown พอกินเสร็จก็กลับโรงแรม มนก็หาที่ร้านต่อไปสำหรับวันรุ่งขึ้น ก็เป็รคราวของร้าน ติ่มซำ แล้วต่อภาคสอง..........

หลังจากหายไปนาน

ไม่ได้ up blog นานมากมาย ตอนนี้ก็ Summer Break แล้ว

หลังจากผ่านพ้น Spring quarter นรกมาได้

งานวิจัยก็กำลังค่อยๆคืบ เหมือนหอยทาก (ช้ากว่าเต่า) รวมทั้งมีเรื่องไร้สาระ กับอาจารย์ที่ทำงานด้วยกันอีก

ตอนนี้กำลังจะหนี้เที่ยวแล้ว อิอิ ว่าจะไป Atlanta, GA ซะสัปดาห์นึง ก็คงจะมีรูปมาฝากกัน แล้วเดี๋ยวช่วงกลางเดือนสิงหาคมก็จะไปประชุมที่ New Mexico แต่ไม่ใช่เรื่องที่วิจัยกับอาจารย์บอกซ์ เป็นเรื่องที่มนสนใจ แล้วไปคุยกับอาจารย์ทาง math ที่เกษียณไปแล้วแต่ยังทำงานอยู่ แกก็เลยชวนไป ทางที่ประชุมมีเงินค่าเดินทาง กิน อยู่ ให้ด้วย มนก็ไปค่ะ ไม่เสียตังค์ หรือเสียตังค์น้อย 5555 

อย่างสุดท้าย มนตัดผมแล้ว ถ้าพูดให้ถูกเอกตัดผมมน เสียใจ ผมเหลือแค่บ่าเอง ตอนเอกตัดมนก็จับให้ดูว่าเอาออกแค่ไหน เพราะผมเสีย เอกเริ่มตัดจากทางซ้ายแล้วมาทางขวา พอมาทางขวาเนี่ยดิ เสียกรรไกรใกล็หูมาก เหมือนห่างจากหูแค่ 2 นิ้วได้ พอตัดเสร็จ มนอึ้งไปเลยค่ะ อย่างแรกผมสั้นมาก อย่างที่สอง ผมทางซ้ายยาวกว่าทางขวาเกือบ 2 นิ้วได้สุดยอดค่ะ ก็เลยให้เอกเล็มไปเล็มมา สุดท้ายก็โอเค ผมก็เป็นคลื่นเล็กน้อยถึงปานกลาง  ก็คอยดูรูปจาก Atlanta กัน

ลีซาน จบแล้ว

เมื่อวานดูลีซานจบแหละ น้ำตาท่วมจอ เป็นละครดีแห่งปีได้เลย มีทั้งบทบู้ บทเชือดเชือนทางการบ้าน และแน่นอนบทรักและดรามา หาดู online ได้ นะจ๊ะ google ได้เลย อิอิ แต่บางตอนอาจจะลำบากหน่อย

หลังจากนี้ก็ทำงานๆๆ จนกว่าจะมีละครดีๆมาให้ดูอีก

ป.ล. เข็ม อะไรท่าทางไม่ค่อยดีเหรอ เอกก็ชอบ Heroes เหมือนกัน ตอนแรกๆมนก็ดูนะ แต่หลังๆขี้เกียจแล้วอ่ะ ช่วงนี้มนดู Bones สนุกดี ตลกด้วย แนะนำๆ

ติดละครเกาหลี

เรื่องมีอยู่ว่า เมื่อสองสามสัปดาห์ที่แล้วคุยกับคุณพ่อ แล้วคุณพ่อแนะนำละครเกาหลีมาเรื่อง
ลีซาน จอมบัลลังก์พลิกแผ่นดิน หรือ Yi san: wind of the palace
ทั้งหมดมี 77 ตอน ตอนแรกก็นั่งดูอยู่คนเดียว ก็มีความคิดข้นมาว่า เดี๋ยวติดคนเดียว ก็เลยชวนเอกมาดูด้วยตอนนี้ ก็เลยติดกันทั้งสองคน 555 นั่งดูกันมาหลายสัปดาห์แล้ว กำลังจะจบวันสองวันนี้แหละ อิอิ
