Prepare to be a teacher

Two quarters have passed, and about 1 year's left for my PhD life. I hope I will finish my research and the writing in time. I'm taking a research-liked education class, and my assignment is to observe a Math class and give 2-3 lectures. My mentor is Mr. Marion. I seat in his MATH099. MATH 099 is a reviewing class, so the content in the class is high school MATH. In each class, Mr. Marion gives the lecture around 30-40 minutes and let the students do exercises from the book. In this way, they can ask questions right after they listen to the lecture. I help him answer the questions. I've given one lecture already, and I'll give other two lectures next week. The hard part of giving lecture in this class is to think back when I was in high school and how I learnt these stuffs. In Fall, I gonna teach a trigonometry class. So I'll prepare the class during this summer.

Today a student, Ms. Sherry, gave me a notebook. Thanks to Ms. Sherry. You brighten my day. :)

By the way, my town is more civilized now. :D Finally there is a SUSHI-and-Thai restaurant and it's really good. Pad Thai here is great too.

Early Fall 2009

Fall 2009 quarter has started for 2 weeks already. My schedule has not been done yet. With my new responsibility, the president of College of Engineering and Science Graduate Student Council (COES GSC), I am recalled the time that I was a part of Sciex'05. First thing first as always, recruiting new members of the council is my first priority. Fortunately, I have a friend, a last-year member, to help me out. Actually, she is the main person recruiting students. Since the council has been founded for two years, but nothing has been done, my friend and I are going to push hard.

We expect to have the initial team by next week, and we gonna have the kick-off meeting within early October.

For my research, there is a complicated issue since the beginning of the quarter, but it is getting better, I guess. :p I've planned to have most of my dissertation content by the end of the Winter quarter, the latest is in Spring quarter, because I also planned to be a teaching assistant in Fall 2010. Now I'm crossing my finger and hope my plan will be followed.

BLAST 2009, New Mexico State University, Las Cruces, NM

Last week I attended the BLAST conference. BLAST stands for Boolean Algebras, Lattices, Algebraic Logic, Quantum Logic, Universal Algebra, Algebraic Logic, Set Theory, Set-theoretic Topology and Point-free Topology. This conference does not directly relate to my research, but I have talked with the ex-director of my program, Dr.Greechie who is an expert in Orthomodular lattices, about my research. He suggested me to study something in lattice and asked me to attend this conference with his group.

I went with Dr.Kanno, a math professor, and two Chinese PhD students, Wu and Sam. Dr.Greechie left two days before us.

I'm so grad I went to this conference for many reasons.

First, at the reception Dr.Greechie introduced me to his friend, Dr.Pratt who is a computer scientist who comprehends s a lot of algebraic stuffs. We discussed about my research and he suggested me a way to model my problem. I'm reading his paper and collect questions to ask him.

The reception was at the Walkers' home. Thank you for the great home and food.

Second, this trip was an advanture. The rental car is Mazda 3 2008, but it is in bad condition. The right back tire was punctured by a nail since when we didn't know, so we had to stop at Dallas to patch the tire. I brought my GPS with me but unfortunately we could not use it because the car outlet was broken. However, we arrived Las Cruces safely. In the last night, the fire alarm at our hotel went off around 2:30am. and after that I could not sleep until 4:30am. On the way back, we stopped in El Paso, TX to change all tires just in case because there would be a storm on the way back. So we will arrive at the hotel we reserved late around 1:00am. But that was not it. There is a border partol station and they wanted to check our passport and greencard. There were ten of them around our car and asked a few questions. I drove from 10:30pm and, when we were about to arrive the hotel, the map I printed in the morning was wrong, and there was no hotel at the exit. But we found the hotel at last. We arrived the hotel as expected 1:00am.

Third, I like New Mexico State U campus a lots. It is so neat, so clean, and beautiful. Moreover, there are a lot of restaurants in many varieties, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Pacific Rim, Mexican, Indian, and etc. The scenary was new to me, a dessert view. The excursion of this conference is to go for White Sands National Monument.

วันที่สองไป Georgia Aquarium มนอยากไปดู whale shark พอไปเห็นแล้ว ตัวเล็กกว่าที่คิด แต่ก็อลังการอยู่ดี การจัดโซนต่างๆ เหมือนที่ Siam Ocean World เลย ต้องบอกว่า ของเราจัดคล้ายๆเค้า แต่ก็น่าจะคล้ายๆกันทุกที่

อีกวันนึงก็ไป Coca Cola World มนชอบหนัง 4D มากเลย ดีที่สุดเท่าที่เคยดูมาแล้ว แต่ที่เด็ดที่สุดของที่นี่ คือ ได้ชิมน้ำของ Coca Cola จากทั่วโลก ลืมไปแล้วว่ากี่ชนิด แต่เยอะมาก เพิ่งรู้ว่า Apple Kiwi เป็นสูตรของประเทศไทยเอง

วันนี้ได้ฤกษ์ มาอัพเรื่องราวที่ไปที่ Atlanta, Georgia ซะที หลังจากกลับมาแล้วสองสัปดาห์

ผู้ร่วมเดินทาง: เอก และ มนเอง (คงเดากันได้)

ออกเดินทางวันที่ 8 มิถุนายน:

ตอนเช้ามนมีสัมมนา ก็เลยออกประมาณเที่ยงๆได้ ใช้เวลาเดินทางประมาณ 9 ชั่วโมง ก็กะกันว่าจะถึงประมาณสามทุ่ม ก็ไม่ดึกไป แต่มนลืมไปว่า Atlanta เป็น eastern time ก็จะเร็วกว่าที่มนอยู่ชั่วโมงนึง ก็เลยไปถึงประมาณสี่ทุ่มนิดๆ แม่เจ้า น่ากลัวมาก พอเข้าถึงตัว downtown ก็เห็นกลุ่มคนดำเป็นกลุ่มๆ เหมือนเป็นแก๊งก์ๆ แล้วรถก็ติดไฟแดงไอ้ตรงสี่แยกนั่นแหละ บรรยากาศก็เครียมค่ะ ไม่รู้เค้าจะเดินมาทำไรรึเปล่า แล้วก็มีคนเดินไปเดินมาอยู่กลางสี่แยกเหมือนคนเมาด้วย พอไฟเขียวก็ขับต่อ สรุปทั้งถนนก็ออกแนวๆนั้น ซึ่งใกล้โรงแรมมาก พอ GPS บอกว่าถึงโรงแรมแล้ว ปรากฎว่าประตูโรงแรมที่เห็นๆอยู่มันปิด ก็เลยขับตรงไป มึดโคตรๆ ก็ไม่เห็นว่าประตูไหนเปิด เอกก็ขับรถเลย ต้องไปวนมา ต้องผ่านสี่แยกเดิมอีก ก็เสียวกันอีกรอบนึง แต่ก็ดีหน่อยเพราะมีตำรวจมาแล้ว พอรอบนี้ขบวนรอบโรงแรมอีกด้านนึง กว่าจะเห็นประตูที่เหิด เอกก็ขับรถเลยไปแล้ว สรุปก็ต้องวน ผ่านสี่แยกเดิม ระทึกเหมือนเดิม เป็นเวลาสามครั้ง check in โรงแรมสี่ทุ่มกว่าๆ เรื่องไม่คาดคิดก็เกิดขึ้น ต้องจ่ายตังค์ค่าที่จอดรถในโรงแรมคืนละ $15 มนอยู่ 5 คืนก็จ่ายกันไป

วันแรกที่ Atlanta 9 มิถุนายน:

ตืนกันประมาณ 9 โมงได้ (โคตรเช้าเลย เพราะมันคือ 8 โมงของพวกมน) เพื่อไป High Musuem of Art

High Musuem of Art เล็กกว่าที่ Art Musuem ที่ Dallas ที่มนไปกับนุ่น แล้ว Exhibition ก็ค่อนข้างธรรมดา แต่มี บางส่วนที่นำมาจาก Louvre ซึ่งไม่สามารถถ่ายรูปได้ ที่นี่มนไม่ได้ถ่ายรูปมาก ก็เดินกันอยู่หลายชั่วโมงเหมือนกันขึ้นๆลงๆ มีสามตึกได้ ออกจากที่ High ประมาณ 3 โมง

ก็เลยขับรถไปแถว Centennial Olympics Park เป็นโซนที่เคยจัดแข่งโอลิมปิค ว่าจะหาที่จอดรถแล้วลงไปถ่ายรูป พอไปถึงที่จอดรถต้องต่ายตังค์หมดเลย ถูกสุดก็ $5 ได้ แล้วก็ร้อนมากกกกก สุดท้ายก็แค่ขับรถวน แล้วก็ไปหาของกิน

ด้วยความที่มนอยากกินอาหารจีนแบบที่ไม่ใช่อยู่ตาก Chinese Buffet ที่นี่ ก็เลยไปที่ถนนนึง ที่ขึ้นชื่อว่ามีอาหารหลายประเทศ ขับรถวนไปวนมาอยู่เกือบชั่วโมงได้ ก็เลือกร้านอาหารจีนชื่อ Yen Jing สั่งอาหารมาสามอย่าง เกี๊ยว ปลากระพงทำแบบที่พ่อครัวต้องการ แล้วก็ผัดเห็ดอะไรก็ไม่รู้ อร่อยมากมาย สั่งข้าวมาด้วย ก็ไม่รู้ว่าเค้าคิดตังค์รึเปล่า เดินมาถามตลอดเลยว่าจะเอาข้าวเพิ่มรึเปล่า พวกมนก็กินกันไปคนละถ้วย สุดท้ายตอนคิดตังค์ ข้าวฟรี น้ำชาฟรี คิดแค่ค่ากับข้าวโคตรดีเลย

ลืมเล่าว่าก่อนไปที่ร้านอาหารแวะซื้อหนังสือที่ก่อน ซื้อเรื่อง Deception Point กับ Digital Fortress ของ Dan Brown พอกินเสร็จก็กลับโรงแรม มนก็หาที่ร้านต่อไปสำหรับวันรุ่งขึ้น ก็เป็รคราวของร้าน ติ่มซำ แล้วต่อภาคสอง..........

ไม่ได้ up blog นานมากมาย ตอนนี้ก็ Summer Break แล้ว

หลังจากผ่านพ้น Spring quarter นรกมาได้

งานวิจัยก็กำลังค่อยๆคืบ เหมือนหอยทาก (ช้ากว่าเต่า) รวมทั้งมีเรื่องไร้สาระ กับอาจารย์ที่ทำงานด้วยกันอีก

ตอนนี้กำลังจะหนี้เที่ยวแล้ว อิอิ ว่าจะไป Atlanta, GA ซะสัปดาห์นึง ก็คงจะมีรูปมาฝากกัน แล้วเดี๋ยวช่วงกลางเดือนสิงหาคมก็จะไปประชุมที่ New Mexico แต่ไม่ใช่เรื่องที่วิจัยกับอาจารย์บอกซ์ เป็นเรื่องที่มนสนใจ แล้วไปคุยกับอาจารย์ทาง math ที่เกษียณไปแล้วแต่ยังทำงานอยู่ แกก็เลยชวนไป ทางที่ประชุมมีเงินค่าเดินทาง กิน อยู่ ให้ด้วย มนก็ไปค่ะ ไม่เสียตังค์ หรือเสียตังค์น้อย 5555

อย่างสุดท้าย มนตัดผมแล้ว ถ้าพูดให้ถูกเอกตัดผมมน เสียใจ ผมเหลือแค่บ่าเอง ตอนเอกตัดมนก็จับให้ดูว่าเอาออกแค่ไหน เพราะผมเสีย เอกเริ่มตัดจากทางซ้ายแล้วมาทางขวา พอมาทางขวาเนี่ยดิ เสียกรรไกรใกล็หูมาก เหมือนห่างจากหูแค่ 2 นิ้วได้ พอตัดเสร็จ มนอึ้งไปเลยค่ะ อย่างแรกผมสั้นมาก อย่างที่สอง ผมทางซ้ายยาวกว่าทางขวาเกือบ 2 นิ้วได้สุดยอดค่ะ ก็เลยให้เอกเล็มไปเล็มมา สุดท้ายก็โอเค ผมก็เป็นคลื่นเล็กน้อยถึงปานกลาง ก็คอยดูรูปจาก Atlanta กัน

เมื่อวานดูลีซานจบแหละ น้ำตาท่วมจอ เป็นละครดีแห่งปีได้เลย มีทั้งบทบู้ บทเชือดเชือนทางการบ้าน และแน่นอนบทรักและดรามา หาดู online ได้ นะจ๊ะ google ได้เลย อิอิ แต่บางตอนอาจจะลำบากหน่อย

หลังจากนี้ก็ทำงานๆๆ จนกว่าจะมีละครดีๆมาให้ดูอีก

ป.ล. เข็ม อะไรท่าทางไม่ค่อยดีเหรอ เอกก็ชอบ Heroes เหมือนกัน ตอนแรกๆมนก็ดูนะ แต่หลังๆขี้เกียจแล้วอ่ะ ช่วงนี้มนดู Bones สนุกดี ตลกด้วย แนะนำๆ

ทั้งหมดมี 77 ตอน ตอนแรกก็นั่งดูอยู่คนเดียว ก็มีความคิดข้นมาว่า เดี๋ยวติดคนเดียว ก็เลยชวนเอกมาดูด้วยตอนนี้ ก็เลยติดกันทั้งสองคน 555 นั่งดูกันมาหลายสัปดาห์แล้ว กำลังจะจบวันสองวันนี้แหละ อิอิ

ลูกบิดประตูเจ้ง

วันนี้หลังกินข้าวเสร็จประมาณสองทุ่มกว่าๆเกือบสามทุ่ม ก็จะเอาผ้าลงไปซัก เอกเดินออกไปก่อน มนปิดประตูห้องตามออกมา แต่ แม่เจ้า!!! ลูกบิดประตูหลุดติดมือออกมาด้วย ก็เลยต้องกลับเข้ามาในห้อง ซ่อมลูกบิดกัน คือ ชิ้นส่วนอันนึงมันหักออกมา มนไม่ได้แรงเยอะขนาดนั้นนะ มันเก่าแล้ว ก็เลยจะเอากาวมาติด เนื่องจากไม่ได้ใช้กาวเลย มันก็ดันแห้งซะอีก เอกก็เลยต้องออกไปซื้อกาว กว่าจะติดให้ได้มุม ก็ปาเข้าไปชั่วโมงนึง พอขันน็อตมันก็ดันหลุดออกมาอีก สุดท้าย เอกก็เลยเอากาวทาลูกบิดติดกับประตูเลย น็อตก็ไม่ต้องใส่ ก็เพิ่งเสร็จตอนสี่ทุ่มนี่แหละ ถ้าพรุ่งนี้เค้ามาซ่อมไม่รู้ว่าจะเอาออกได้รึเปล่า สรุปวันนี้ก็เลยยังไม่ได้ซักผ้า เพราะกว่าจะเสร็จคงตีหนึ่งพอดี

Graph Theory Final Exam Winter 08

วันนี้สอบ Graph theory มา สนุกสนานมากมาย มีทั้งหมด 15 ข้อ ให้ทำ 2 ชั่วโมงครึ่ง อาจารย์ที่สอนเป็นที่รู้กันว่าเข้มงวดเรื่อง proof มาก แต่ก็ไม่มีผลเท่าไหร่ ที่จุฬาฯเคี้ยวมาเยอะแล้ว แต่ไอ้ที่ทำให้มนรำคาญคือ ต้องพิสูจน์ละเอียดตลอด ไอ้ที่เราว่าชัดแกก็บอกไม่ชัด หน้าแรกเปิดมาเรื่อง Hamilton cycle, Euler Circuit, Chromatic number คำถามง่ายๆ เช่น graph นี้มีโน้นมีนี้รึเปล่าเท่าไหร่ อะไรประมาณนั้น แต่ไอ้ที่ตอบยากเนี่ยคือ เพราะอะไร ที่ตอบยากเพราะ ก็เราหาได้นี่หว่า จะให้ตอบว่าไง ก็หาได้จะบอกว่าไม่มีได้ไง มนก็เลยข้ามเรื่องเหตุผลไป ทำไปทำมา ก็เหลือ อยู่ 4 ข้อ เหลือเวลาอยู่ 5 นาที ก็มาทำข้อที่ดูกว่าง่ายๆ
คือให้หา complement ของกราฟ แล้วถามว่ามัน self-complement รึเปล่า มนจำได้ว่า มันเป็น self-complement จากการทำการบ้าน แต่ทำเท่าไหร่ก็ไม่ได้ว่าเป็นซักที ก็เลยคิดว่าตัวเองจำผิด ก็เลยตอบว่ามันไม่เป็น เนื่องจากจำได้ลางๆว่าเป็นเรื่องอะไรซักอย่างเกี่ยวกราฟมีจำนวน 8 vertices มนก็เลยตอบว่ามันไม่เป็น self-complement เพราะ มันมี 8 vertices ตอนตอบไม่คิดอะไรเลย ค่หาเหตุผลใส่ไป ว่าง่ายๆอ มั่วนั้นเอง ก็ตัดสินใจเลิกทำแหละ เพราะอาจารย์ก็ไม่ได้ตั้งใจให้ทำทุกข้อ ก็กำลังจะออกเวลาก็หมด ไอ้คุ้มสอบดันบอกว่า ให้เวลาเพิ่มอีก 15 นาที ไอ้เราก็เหลืออีกสามข้อ มี 20 15 10 คะแนน ข้อ 20 กับ 15 เนี่ย เคยเป็นการบ้าน แต่ลองคิดมาหลายรอบแล้วทำ algebra ไม่ออกซักที ก็เลยชั่งมัน ไหนก็ไม่ต้องทำให้เสร็จ พอมาดูข้อสุดท้าย 10 คะแนน เห็นวิธีทำเรียบร้อย แต่เนื่องจากขี้เกียจทำแล้ว แล้วเสียงอาจารย์ที่บอกว่า "I don't expect you to solve all of the problems." ก็ลอยมาอีกครั้ง มนก็เลยเขียนชื่อส่งเลย เว้นไว้ซะงั้น

พอออกมาจากห้องสอบ เอกบอกว่า ทำได้ทุกข้อ มนโคตรหมั่นไส้ เอกบอกต่อว่าเสร็จตั้งแต่ชั่วโมงที่สอง ไอ้เราก็ขี้เกียจทำ + อาจารย์ไม่ได้กะให้ทำทุกข้อ ก็เลยเลิก สรุปไอ้ข้อ self-complement ก็จำถูกแล้ว แต่ต้องมีอะไรมาบันดาลให้ทำไหร่ก็ไม่ออก แถมยังให้เหตุผลแกอีกว่าทำไม โคตรขายหน้า ไมอยากคิดเลยถ้าอาจารย์ตรวจแล้วจะรู้สึกยังไง สรุปเดี๋ยวก็รู้เองว่า เกรดจะเป็นยังไง สุดท้ายหมั่นไส้เอกโคตรๆ

Ski Trip during Christmas Break' 08

During last Christmas break I went to a ski resort in Red River, New Mexico for 7 days; 4 days for driving and 3 days for skiing. There are 5 people; Aig, P Noon, James, and James's dad, and me. James and his dad are our drivers for this trip. Thanks you very much. Because we took a lot of times in the van (James's dad's van), I slept almost all days. 555 We arrived at the hotel in the evening on the second day and we had Mexican for our dinner which made me certain that I don't like Mexican food. The taste was not bad but I think ingredients are too buttery or cheesy for me. On the third day, I had a skiing lesson. To ski straight forward is not hard, but to take a turn or stop is hard at least for me. So until noon I could not take a turn without falling. The second session is in the afternoon which I practiced only to turn and stop. After falling for 4-5 times, finally I could turn, but I still could not stop. My solution is to turn to Aig and P Noon and let them catch me. 555 Unfortunately, I hurted my knee when I tried to stop by myself, so I had to stop skiing. I think in total I fell almost 15 times on the first day. So sad. As such, I skiied only for one day.

On the second day at Red River, I was so bored because I could not walk much. So I just sat and read the book I brought with me. On that day, Aig hurted his knee in late afternoon, and he told me that he fell almost 20 times on the second day of skiing.

On the third day, only James and his dad went to ski. P Noon was too exhausted. Aig and I hurted ourselves. So we walked around the city which is very small, and James brought my camera to the top of the mountain to take photos for me. Thank again.

In summary, this trip costed me around $700. I should mention that most meal at Red River I had Mama (มาม่า) with eggs. Anyway, it was a good experiance for skiing, but next time I will go in low season for saving money and empty skiing hill.

อยู่ๆวันนี้ก็ร้อนขึ้นมา ทั้งๆที่ เมื่อวันสองวันก่อนอุณหภูมิยังติดลบอยู่เลย ตอนแรกะว่า วันนี้จะอบเค้ก ทำงานทำการบ้าง หลังจากที่พัมานาน ก็เลยหมดอารมณ์ทำ เพราะร้อน ตอนนี้อุณหภูมิอยู่ที่ 22C แล้ววันนี้จะต่ำสุดที่ 15 พรุ่งนี้สูงสุดที่ ก็ร้อน แต่ต่ำสุดี่ 5 องศา วันถัดไปอยู่ระหว่าง -3 ถึง 7 จะเอายังไงกับชีวิตเนี่ย ฝนก็ตก มีสามฤดูในหนึ่งวันจริงๆ
เรื่องต่อมา เมื่อสัปดาห์ก่อนเล็งร้าน Bakery ใน downtown ไว้กะว่า ปิดเบรกแล้วจะไปลอง มนไม่มีเรียนตั้งแต่เมื่อวาน ก็เลยชวนเอกเดินไปกิน มันเลิกกิจการแล้วอ่ะ ซะงั้น ก็เลยลองเลยไปดูร้านอาหารอิตตาเลียนที่เพิ่งเปิดเมื่อปีที่แล้ว ก็เหมือนเลิกไปแล้วเหมือนกัน ทำไมชีวิตน่ารันทดจัง เค้าเลิกกิจการหนีกันหมดเลย

ป.ล.สัปดาห์หน้าจะไปเล่น ski กับเพื่อนๆที่แลป หวังว่าจะกลับมาครบ 32 ทริปนี้แพงจริงจัง งบประมาณขั้นต้น $700 หวังว่างบจะไม่บานมาก

I came back from SC08 on last Thursday night before the schedule one day. Supercomputing 08 was held in Austin, capital city of Texas. Its slogan is "Keep Austin Weird". IMO, Austin is a middle size city, but quiet except rush time. Famous food is barbecue, so I had almost everyday.

This year activities, for me, started with the student volunteer orientation that last year I missed because of the delay flight. On the first night, I had the student volunteer party. I forgot the restaurant name, as usual. This restaurant is not generic restaurant. It has game zone for playing some kind of game machines. The conference gave us cash card to play game. The card is used to pay to play game. The machines will give us tickets if we win, and these tickets are used to buy gift instead of cash. My friends (James, P Noon, P Aey) and I, including Aig, combined all of our tickets together and paid for a huge Spider man which is Aig's idea. Its size is as large as Aig. However I forgot to take any photo during I were playing games.
The next night, Sunday night, I had Sun's party. The party was so so. Sun invited all students, so the party was so crownded. After we had enough food, we left the party. 5555
On Monday night, there was the Open Gala dinner. We shopped freebies as last year, but this year I didn't focus on free stuffs. I searched for a summer internship oppotunity. However, Gala dinner is not for negotiation, so we ate and grabbed free things.
On Tuesday night, I had to have my dinner by myself. At first, we would like to have Subway, but because of Aig's bad navigation we could not find one. I endded up at a pizzaria. We orderred a large pizza and ate together. (It's definitely cheaper than orderring individual) This is the only meal I paid on my own.
On Wednesday night, there is an American man, whose girlfriend is Thai, invited Dr.Box and us to AMD party. So we went there, the party was better than Sun in any sense. The place was good. The food were delicious. I didn't order any algohoilc drink, but Aig did. He orderred a glass of magarita, and I drank it too. 555 We had a great time. I laughted till my stomach was cramped. We left the party around 10:20pm.

Please, don't think I went to a conference for only having parties.

I attended three or four sessions. I didn't attend much because there was no session that is directly related to my research. Anyway as I mentioned, I went there for a summer internship, so I had four business cards of people who are working on the same same area as mine. That's enough for me this time.

Tomorrow I will head to Austin, TX to participate in Supercomputing 08 as a student volunteer like last year. This time all Ph.D. students in my lab go to this conference, and we are student volunteer except Clayton. I will up my blog after I come back.

Panna Cotta by Giada
Ingredients
1. 1 cup whole milk
2. 1 tablespoon unflavored powdered gelatin
3. 3 cups whipping cream
4. 1/3 cup honey (IMO, you don't have to add honey. You can add vanilla extract instead for a good flavor)
5. 1 tablespoon sugar
6. Pinch salt

Directions
1. Sprinkle the gelatin over the milk and let stand for 3-5 minutes to soften the gelatin
2. After 3-5 minutes, stir the mixture over medium heat just until the gelatin dissolves. Don't let the milk boil. This step takes approximately 5 minutes.
3. Add cream, honey, sugar, and salt. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
4. Remove from the heat.
5. After it cools down, refrigerate until set, at least 6 hours.

You can serve with fresh berries as the original recipe or with jam whichever flavor you like.

After the CS Q Exam, I have continued working on my research. Hopefully, it will be done by next month. It's good though to research and write a paper in not hurry. I can comprehend what I did, I am doing, and I gonna do next. Last year everything is in rush, so I hardly remember what I did. I hope that it will be this way for long time.

Most weekend I cooked something new, not invent new recipe. I just cooked the recipes that I had never cooked before. I made sushi the week right after the Q exam. That was good. I will not suffer from sushi craving anymore. Last two weeks, Aig made a bowl of panna cotta. Amazingly that was delicious. Pudding is the last dessert I cooked. It was a failure. It's not thicken, so Aig put it in the freezer. Now we have a fourth quart of homemade ice cream. :D

CS Qualifying Exam

Today I took the CS qualifying exam.
There are 13 problems. According to the Syllabus, the exam would cover programming language, data structure and algorithm, but there is nothing about programming language in the exam. I took a lot of time for preparing it. :(

The exam was not hard, and not too easy. I cannot solve one problem.

"Prove that any sequential algorithm to find min and max of an input array with size n will use at least 3(n/2)-2 in the worst case"

If someone can solve it, please let me know. :D

Besides this problem, I messed up with heapification. I am confused with top-down and bottom-up heapification. Do you believe that?

For the rest, I may lose some points from each one. 555

Finally, I hate morning exam. 9:00 am. is not a good time for loading my brain.\

Hopefully I pass the exam. I really don't want to take any computer science exam.

P.S. Everyone who took this exam already told me that you have to wait for 3 months with keeping bugging for your result. I will be not petient.

New Slide Door

Yesterday there was a post on my front door from the landlord. It announced that a new slide door will be installed for the tub in our bathroom. The reason is that
"some of tenants don't close the shower curtain all the way, therefore it causes water to leak to the downstairs apartments and ruining the ceilings, walls, and floors."

In my opinion, the leakage is caused by the low quality of the floor. Anyway I have a new door in my room. 555

เดือนก็โยนหมูชิ้นใหญ่ลงไป รอน้ำเดือด ปิดฝา ลดไฟ แล้วก็ไปอ่านหนังทสือ ต้มอยู่ประมาณ 3 ชั่วโมงได้

One month in Thailand

I disappeared from my blog for two months because I backed to Thailand. :D

Before I left to Thailand, I faced with messy stuffs. First, I had to finish a report of the Department of Defense project which was likely to never end. I'd done with it two days before I left. That's why I did not up my blog at that time. In Thailand, I did not want to waste my time in the Internet. The summary of my trip is here. :D

July13-14, 08
I took around 30 hours from US to Thailand. The moment that the plane was landing is the warm and happy moment. My father and my uncle waited me at the airport, but I had no chance to met my uncle. He came home early. However, I met him later.

My home was changed a lot. My father rearranged almost everything in the house. He used to say that he was waiting the time I've gone because he wanted to throw many things but I don't want to. :D My house looked better, less junk actually. My dog, ใบตอง, is very old. She cannot see now, and I'm not sure that she can smell. Maybe she's just too lazy to smell anything but food. I arrived home at 1:30 am. I slept around 6 hours.

First day in Thailand (July 14, 08), I went to Sear, Rangsit to buy a voltage converter. The reason is, I brought Wii which can use only 110 volt. In the evening, I had หมูกระทะ with my father, aunt, sister, and brother. You will see the list of food I had. 555

Next day, I had an appointment with my high school friends (Joe and Puk) at Chamchuri Square. We had lunch at Ootoya. (Joe requested it.) On Wednesday, Dad brought me to Ayuthaya to release 500 fishes to Chao Phraya river. I had Pad Thai for my lunch. 555

In the first weekend, I went to a beach near Hua Hin with my mother family. We biked bicycles that have four seats. After biking for 1 hour, our hips was hurt. 555 For our dinner, we grilled and ate tons of seafood. น้าอ้วน bought it in the morning. We had crabs, mussels, squids, and fishes. Beside this seafood dinner, I had another seafood meal at BangSaen beach with my family คุณพ่อ กัย อาหม่วย and Aig. The crabs were so good, the last shop of the BangSaen beach near the port.

My life in Thailand was like these, eat and travel, for the whole month. I gained 3 and a half kilograms. I went to Hua Hin again with some of my Smorisia friends (Boat, Ler, Nui, Nimon, Odd, Tape, and Tee). We had first dinner at La Mae ลาแม which is the last restaurant in เขาตะเกียบ. (The last one is almost always the best one. :D) Aig and I used to have lunch at this restaurant before we went for study abroad. The scenery of this restaurant is really the best in that area because it's on the mountain. You can see Hua Hin during having your dinner. Unfortunately, no one had the cameras. We didn't expect to have dinner there. Boat just drove and drove until find an interesting restaurant. 555 During this trip, Ler cooked Japanese curry for us. If you would like to know the ingredient, please ask Ler. As far as I know, apples and 9 potatoes were included. I will not comment the curry. Everyone who had it had an idea. However, next time we should use the whole pack of curry, and Japanese curry is not a good choice to save money. :D Beside eating, we traveled to ป่าละอู water fall. Everyone but Nimon and Boat had the same goal which is to take pictures. Before we came back to Bangkok, we had lunch at ดอนหอยหลอด also. (See!!!, I ate a lot.) Finally, thank you, Boat, for the comfortable accommodation. Next time we would like to reserve your house at เขาใหญ่. :D

I just recognized something. One evening I went to เยาวราช to have dinner. 555 I had ออส่วน and ข้าวต้มกระเพาะหมู. The best dish of that night is the dessert. I had แปะก๊วยนมสด. It's very delicious and very expensive too. I also bought ก๋วยจั๊บ back home for my breakfast. :D

The forth week in Thailand, I called it "the eating week". On Thursday (Aug 7, 08), Aig and I met Nee at Novotel Lotus to have bakery buffet. K's with us too. The bakery was not good as I expected. In the evening, we went to Oishi Grand to have dinner with Smorisia again but this time Poang, P Yee, and P Ann were with us. On Friday, at noon Aig and I had lunch with P Poomjai (our senior project mentor) and อามัธนา (my father's friend) at Bank of Thailand. Then, we unintentionally went to Wat Pra Keaw. Actually, we were lost. We would like to back to Chula. (See pics @ my picasa web) In that evening, Aig and I had dinner with Sciex friends at Hong Tae, Ambassador hotel. We took 3 hours from Wat Pra Keaw to the hotel and late the appointment time one hour. But Aig and I were not the last group. 555 On the next day, Aig's uncle bought our lunch at Pullman Bangkok Kingpower. On Sunday, my aunt brought my sisters, brother and me to Nakorn Nayok, and had lunch that we had to wait forever. We orderd four dishes. They took one hour and a half to cook them. We were very full with two whole fishes and one hot pot.

Last week in Thailand, I went out almost everyday although I tried to rest at home. I had lunch with A Jeab once, and a dinner with Dr.Box and P Noon on different days.

Aug 17, 08
The return flight. The departure time was 6:30 am. Thank everyone sending me at the airport. I had to confess that I almost cried when the plane took off.

Aug 17-18, 08 (The return flight)
This is the longest flight ever, 44 hour trip. I will not travel by plane for awhile. It was the long trip by our intention, but not for the long trip it's for the good connecting flight. I stopped at Honolulu Hawaii for 8 hours, and had chance to travel around with air sick and dizzy feeling. I cannot drive, so it's Aig duty. 555 The sea was so clear, but I prefer Thailand's beaches. However, the Thailand southern beaches are not subordinate. (see the pics at my picasaweb)
Next stop is Atlanta, Georgia. I arrived at Aug 18, 08 I had no mood to travel around even if I had 10 hours. I would like to lay down badly, so I booked a room at Renaissance Houston Hotel operated by Marriott. This is the most expensive hotel I ever booked in USA. It costed me for $75. This amount is for day rate. Night rate is $145-$279. The room I got was fantastic, 2 queen bed, >40" plasma TV, etc.
I arrived at Monroe airport at 4:50 p. James picked me up at the airport. Thank so much.

Not more than one month I will come back Thailand. I'll stay in Thailand around 5 weeks, July 14-Aug 17. I already have two trips. First trip is the trip with my family. My aunt has planned go for Cha-Um on July 18-20. Another one is the Vidyanitad 08 siminar on Aug 8-10.

Moreover, Aig and I have planned to travel to Krabi. I never went to the south of Thailand. So I hope this time I can. Also, my dad and I will have another trip for Suan Peung, Ratchaburi.
So my schedule is little tight, as I expected.

One thing I'm so happy about is my closed friend who live or study in other country coming back home during July and August too. So I have a chance to meet them. I'm miss them so much and definitely, my friends in Thailand too.

However, I have to finish my works first.

The exhaustive quarter was passed. I'm so grad, but heavy works are waiting for me. However, now is rest and relax time. Before I begin the rest part, I should tell briefly about my last trip to Tennessee.

The week before the final-exam week, our lab went for a meeting at Oak Ridge National Lab, Tennessee. The meeting was fine, nothing much. I had a chance to meet top-tenth researchers in my field that was the best thing. They seemed very nice and very open. This trip was long 4 days; two for driving, one for the meeting, and one for traveling 555. It took us 9 hours from Ruston to Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

After the meeting day, Dr.Box's students including me, of course, went to the Forbidden Cavern and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. The cave is not able to compare with any caves in Thailand at least where I used to go. IMO, half of it is man-made. (SO SADDD) Unfortunately, we had no time to walk along the trail in national park, so we saw only trees and ravens.

The best part of this trip is the Japanese buffet that we went after the national park. Although it was not as good as in Thailand (again), but it is the second I had here. (The first one is the one in Davis, CA that I went there with Nunn.)

Now I took a break around 2-3 days already and went to a lake today. Aig and I rented a canoe (cost us $20) . The lake name is Caddo lake. It was fun and tired. I can not row a boat well because I don't have enough energy, I guess. So most of time I just sited still, took photo, and relax. Actually, there should be a lot of animals but it's hard to see them. We met one but have no idea what it is. (I will post the pic on my Picasa.)

Tomorrow I will start working again. There are two deadlines waiting me.

I'm so looking forward to coming back home and seeing you.

Work Hard together...

Last two week Dr.Box assigned me, Aig and two American students to write a proposal for next year funding. We have only one and a half week. It's almost a chaos because we were during in midterm season. So time to make this proposal to be real was less than it should be. After the tests over, I worked at my lab from afternoon until three o'clock then came back home. The nearer the deadline, the longer at the lab. Last Friday I came back home around 6 o'clock in the morning, and all day Saturday and Sunday, we worked together at our building. After we blended works from everyone, we went through the whole proposal around 5-6 times and every times it still had some error. Finally, on last Wednesday Dr.Box submitted it around noon. So far there are one typo error and two reference errors in the final version. Although I worked so hard and very tired, I felt it's worth to do. It made me feel I'm not a slacker. 5555 Our team knew each another better.

After finishing the proposal, I had no a single break. I had another paper to do and the deadline is today. Aig is the first author, and I'm responsible for the related work and introduction part. We have only three days to finish. Luckily, we can modified the last version. Aig had the most important part that is analyzing data and conclusion. So Aig and I worked late like the week before. The first night we almost gave up because the results were not like we thought and we had no idea how to conclude it. Then, the following day in the morning we stopped by at Dr.Box's office to discuss with him what the next step is. He always has the suggestions, however he will ask his idea makes sense, or not. This time after the discussion I decided to cut a class, and worked from the morning until 11 o'clock at night. Due to Aig and I's bad writing skills, we sent the paper to my American friends who work in my lab too. Yesterday is the refining day. We sent the paper back and forward around three times. Aig submitted it around midnight yesterday. Within this two weeks, I produced two substantial works. :D

Easter Break

Easter Break is over. Actually, it was not a long break just four days including Sat and Sun. There is nothing special. Aig and I stayed at home, watch tv and read books. Last Thursday we watched ชิงร้อยชิงล้าน via Youtube (many thanks :D), and they mentioned to a book named "Tunnel". So we're interested in this book little bit. Then on Friday we went to Walmart to but this book, but unfortunately there is no one. Since I intended to buy a book, we spent time at that little corner around half an hour. I got "The sweet far thing" which is the book 3 in its series, and Aig got "The Alchemyst". Aig finished it already but for me "The sweet far thing" is far from the end. IMO, the story is not impressive. However, I gonna read the whole story. On the other hand, Aig was impressed by "The Alchemyst", and he want to pre-order the second episode which gonna release in June.

Now we've planned to buy the series of "Septimus Heap" (Magyk, Flyte, Physik, and Queste). The review is good and the book style is interesting. After I have and read them, I 'll post my opinion. But before that, I should read "The Sweet for Thing" first, and next is "The Alchemyst".

Tornado Warning

Just in one hour ago there are two tornado warning in my home area.
When the first one was issued, i have no idea because I had dinner at Ryan's from 8.00 pm to 8:50 pm. However, there is a tornado warning before Aig and I went there, so when I arrived home I checked from my laptop and ...... Gosh I was in the middle of tornado warning (the first one) and it affected until 9:15pm.
While I was checking the warning, Aig tried to take a shot of thunders. Of course, there is a thunder storm also. Then Aig and I packed everything important things for example Wii, PS2 (this one was in the language already), external hard drive, GPS , TV and important documents. And then we drove to Nehtken Hall, our lab.
During the evacuation there was a tornado update, "the tornado warning affects untill 9:45pm.". Now I think I'm safe. I will stay at the lab for awhile and don't know yet when I head back home.
Pray for my safe.

Already Booked a flight to Bangkok

Finally, I booked a flight to Bangkok. I depart from Monroe, LA on July 12 at 6:30 am. and arrive Bangkok on July 13 at 23:55 pm. I come back to Ruston on August 17. I have a connecting flight at Honolulu, Hawaii. I intended to book flight because I have time at Honolulu around 9 hours. At least I can sight seeing around for 4-5 hours. The ticket costs me around $1500, but it's worth the price. :D

I'm so looking forward to coming back home.

First term in my life with having no midterm exam

My second Winter quarter @ Louisiana Tech U

Today I just knew that this term I have no midterm exam.
For Functional Analysis class, I had a presentation instead because me is the only student in the class. The presentation is likely to be an oral exam, but everything was fine. :D
For OO and data structure class, at the place we were supposed to have the midterm this Wednesday. Because of something that I have no idea, the teacher told that he canceled the exam. YEAHHHHHHH I'm so bored to read all those stuffs.

What is the computer?
What is the computer science?
What is the object in the object oriented?

For me, "Who's care?"

By the way, there is a Thai lady, P Ja, is coming here. She will arrive on next Friday, and in April there is another lady, P Aey. Finally there will be other Thai females here. I'm so glad.

So yummy like in Thailand. I cooked it faster than I cooked when I was in Thailand.
The most important thing is it 's so yummyyyyyyyy and healthyyyyyyy.

Ingredient.
1. zucchini (ซูกินี ใช้แทน บวบ)
2. shrimp
3. baby corn
4. เครื่องแกงเลียงกระป๋อง 555555 ง่าย อร่อย เร็ว

Direction
Put everything into a pot and following the direction on the can.

Before I cooked Aig told me that he will not have dinner because he's full. He had a Whopper from Burger King at 2:00pm. But when แกงเลียง is boiled the smell is too good for him. Finally, he changed his mind. 555555 Now he is preparing a real analysis exam on the Wednesday (the day that I was supposed to have a midterm exam) while I have time to send an email to my relatives and post my blog. So Happy. Yesterday I chose some problems in the book for him to practice. He just complained that one of the problem is very long. There are many sub problems so he did solve that one. IMO, he 's too lazy.

Next week I have another long holiday. My plan is finishing my proposal first and do whatever I want. The next quarter gonna be though because there is no long holiday.

I almost forgot. Now I have my own publish paper. 555555 Thus, the total is 3 papers. That 's not bad for a Ph.D. student although they are not in any journal.
One is mine. For the other two I am a co-author, but is the one who revised and submitted the paper. So I have many experience for writing, explaining and submitting a paper.

My goal is to publish a paper in an ICI journal within this year.

First Day after Christmas & New Year Break

Today I have only one class, OO & data structure because Dr.Schroeder is out of town. Today class is lab class. We have 4 problems which are extended from the last lab; implementing a simple game. Last time was not hard, but this time I took for 4 hours for one problems and it has not finished yet. However, I submitted it already. Actually I don't have to finish it because it just exercises. (IMO, so why you gave hard problems with no brain just tedious) Now I should prepare my presentation on Friday but I have no energy left. Let take a break. 555555

By the way, today dinner entry is น้ำพริกลงเรือ แต่มันไม่ใช่อ่ะ มันคืออะไรก็ไม่รู้ แต่อร่อยดี

During the break I did a lot of homework and home work. Cleaned my room, bought a new desk, analysed data for DoD project which is a non-profit project for me. (REMIND MYSELF: I decided to do it because I can use it in my thesis.) and started proposal.

Super Computing 2007, UC Davis & San Fran

First, I'm really sorry to my blog that I left it so cold. :)

Now I will tell about my trip to Reno, Nevada and Davis CA.

Dr.Box, Aig and I went for Super Computing Conference 2007 in Reno. We should depart from Monroe at 5:50 am. but it did not. We departed around 8:30am. Sweet niblets!!!!!!!!

Because in that morning it is very foggy. If you would like to know see in my photo web album na. (I'm too lazy to attach any photos here. :p) Thus, we missed the connecting flight at Houston airport, and there is only one Continental airline from Houston to Reno. Do you believe it? (Note that Reno is a casino city like Las Vegas and it is the original casino city.) Our solution is departing from Houston to Phoenix, Arizona by Continental airline and from Phoenix to Reno by US Airways. We took 14 hours to arrive Reno. (Damn it) Excuse my language. :p So Aig and I missed the orientation for student volunteer of SC07. My first meal in Reno is โจ๊กจ้า (โคตรอร่อยเลย) We stayed at Atlantis hotel provided by the conference.

My roommate, Val, came from Brazil. She is a Ph.D. student and a teacher too, so she is very busy. I tried to email her for 3-4 times but she replied only once. However, she is a very nice girl. Miss you Val see you next year.

Start the first day with provided breakfast by the conference. Our jobs were so familiar when I was a student in CU, so I was very happy. My favorite job is registration which a few of students like it, but Val and I really like it. :D Good things for being a student volunteer is we can access almost every sections in the conference. In exhibit zone there are a lot of free stuffs e.g. T-shirt, cool pens, 2 G drives, etc.

In day 2 I met Jing, a Ph.D. student from UCSD. She is a Chinese student and her husband. We went a near hotel, Pepper Mill hotel, to have dinner together with Val and her friends, after that we toured around the city. Moreover, I met P Nut a Thai student from UCSD too. (He is a Jing's friend.) P Nut bought this meal for Aig and I. Thank you very much. We had a great time there.

In exhibit zone ดร.ภุชงค์ team had a boot also. We met them at the registration boot accidentally. Aig heard someone spoke Thai, so he greeted them in Thai. :D

My most favorite event in SC07 is Blue Man Group Show. It was awesome.!!!!! (See pics in my picasa ja) Aig and I watched the show with P Nut (another Nut) He 's a Thai student in Japan. He got the same scholarship as N Knack. On that night Dr.Box brought us to a Indian restaurant with another Chinese lady from Houston. It was my first time to have Indian food. I was surprised. It's not smelly like I thought and it's delicious and very hot too.

Davis & San Fran CA
After the conference, Aig and I rented a car from Reno to drive to Nunn's apartment in Davis. We stopped by Taho lake. It 's so beautiful and very cold. This was my first time in US that I toughed snow. Yeah Me!!!! We had launch in a local restaurant near the lake. It's so delicious with high price. We arrived Nunn's apartment around 7:00 pm. Nunn suggested us to have dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant. Yummy and cheap!!!! After that we stopped by an art gallery. I could not understand its exhibition. So deep for me. Arrived home and planned for the next day trip in San Fran. Nunn invited Pu and P Tum to go with us.

Day 2 in Davis
Next day Luckily P Tum was a driver. Thank so much, P Tum. I was so happy I's not the driver. It 's quite hard to drive in San Fran. Unfortunately, it's a foggy day in San Fran. We could not see the whole Golden bridge. We went to the Palace of Fine Art. It's a popular wedding place. For our lunch, we had Dim Sum. WOW That's great!!!! It cost us almost $100, but I was happy with it. In the afternoon, we went to a green house and Japanese garden. Because it's a foggy day, it made the Japanese garden scene much more better. In the evening we went to a pier that I forgot its name. A highlight is sea lions and its smell. 555555 For our dinner we have หมูกระทะ buffet. Yummy again!!!!! (Eating is my life.)

Day 3 in Davis
We woke up around 8:00am. and rush to a Japanese restaurant because พี่เคี้ยงและพี่ๆ warned us that this restaurant is very popular (Buffet and cheap with good quality) We arrived there around 10:15am. There was a long line. It 's open at 11.00am. Luckily there was table left for us when it' s open. I saw the line after we started it was much longer than we arrived. The food were in great quality and variety. Love to be there again. Nunn and I planned for our dinner, so we went to a vegetable stand and Walmart. When arrived home, Nunn did her take home exam, I simulated my model, and Aig slept. 55555 I forgot what we cooked. I almost forgot Nunn's cooking skill is fine. She cooked ไข่ตุ๋น. It's yummy na, Nunn.

Next morning Aig and I drove back to Reno for the flight on the next day. We had buffet at Atlantis Hotel. This time we stayed at Pepper Mill Hotel, the hotel that I had a dinner with my new friends. Funny!!!! The food at Atlantis was so so, but the dessert was yummy.

We departed from Reno around noon, and I forgot Aig's tripod in the rental car. I just bought a new for him last week as a Christmas gift. 55555 We almost missed our at Houston again because our plane could not access the terminal. There is another plane there. Why was it there!!! Aig and I ran for flight. The depart terminal is in another building. That's closed. We had 5 minutes left. Raju picked us up at the airport. Dr.Box drove our car back when he came back before us three days. Moreover, before he parked the car at our apartment, he tried to fix the front bumper. Thank, Dr.Box. :D

END the trip.

On the day that we came back a new Thai student just arrived, P Noon. So on the next day we helped him move in to the dorm, and the next day Aig and I drove to Dallas to buy Thai food and had Vietnamese food. YUMMM!!!

Actually, in 40 minutes I have a class, so I will not post anything more than say Hi. (to anyone who read) I hope that this week or next week I have time to post about my trip to Reno, NV and Davis and San Fran , CA.

By the way, my first paper was accepted last week. Yeah me!!!! I will not revise or do anything about it any more. Keep moving forward.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, our college from Oak Ridge National Lab will come visit us, so we will give presentations about our works. This is my last week of Fall quarter, so it's a very week at the first place. Adding this presentation, I have nothing to say. I have 3 HW sets due on Friday, 2 final exams on Firday, 1 report on Friday, and 1 meeting on Tuesday which is the Graduate Council monthly meeting. Sweet Niblet!!!!
Today I spent my time for the ppt, but it has not finished yet so tomorrow I'll work on it.
Last night 2 HW sets were finished. I slept at 4 o'clock, and now I feel so sleepy because this morning I woke up at 9:00 am to talk with my father. After I finished this post, I gonna continue doing my HW which I should spend one week. :_(

I hope these final exams will not kill me.

The Qualifying Exam

First, I will answer Nik. Last time I brought this lens, I paid 6000 Bath. So I thought that it will not help me save my money much. Moreover, it'll take so much time.

Yesterday I finally knew my qualifying exam result. I PASSED both of Numerical Analysis and PDE. YEAH!!!!! Next Fall quarter will be Computer Science qualifying exam. I hope it is easier than Math qua. exam.

Next month, Nov 10-Nov 16 I will go for Super Computing 2007, Reno, Nevada. After the conference I have planned to visit Nunn at Davis, CA and stay at her apartment for 3-4 days.
I come back on Nov 20.

Today I have a Stat test, so I should read the book now.

Today I woke up late around 10.30 am. While I had my breakfast with a piece of chocolate cake and a cup of milk, I talked with Nik via MSN. I almost forgot in Thailand this time is holiday time. For my local time, tomorrow is Oct 23. Tomorrow I have an appointment with an oculist at Walmart. I have to inspect my eye vision. I guess it will cost me around $300-$400 including lens. (I hope it 's not more than this.)
By the way, today the weather is so bad. In morning, it's not cold. At noon, it started raining. I have classed at 12.30 to 3.30 pm. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. After my classes finished, I went out the building. I was surprised. The weather was so cold around 70 F, I guess. In addition, wind and rain kept the temperature lower. And now it's around 60 F.

I better do my HW now.

On Vista

Yesterday I formated my laptop because it is so slow. Since Aig can download Window XP from our U website, I would like to install it. But when Aig added the activated code, it turned out that for this code the number of installations was exceed. Thus, I could not use it. To be a good person, I installed Window Vista that I had a legal version from Tech as well, then now I'm on Vista platform. I hope that this time it gonna be stay with me for long time. However, there is an important problem. Since my laptop hardware is too old to install Vista, there is no driver for power monitor. The result is my laptop will not alert me if the battery is low. I have to notice by myself. Shame on Acer!!!! :( Now I am still installing all of softwares I use. Last night I installed only Office 2003 and some of 2007. It took me for one and half hour.

By the way, I have known an informal qualifying exam result. I would pass for the PDE, but for Numerical Analysis i have no clue. Teachers still grade it.

Cluster 2007 (2)

Finally, I have time to tell about the trip that I participated in Cluster 2007, Austin, Texas during Sep 16-19, 2007.

Sep 16, 2007
At 6 o'clock, Aig and I woke up, took a shower, and had some snack. We picked up our friend, Raju, at his home, and Dr.Box also. Then Aig drove to Shreveport to rent a car. We got Nissan, Altima, 2007. Luckily, we were the first group who drove this car; moreover, we can start the engine without the key. SO COOL :)

Dr.Box drove to Dallas to meet his daughter, Alisa, and had lunch together. We arrived Dallas around 1 pm., after that we directly went to Austin. I feel it's so far. I slept all the way. 5555
When we arrived Austin around 6 pm., we had to find a printing center to print my poster. Thus, we stopped by at Kinko. They told us that it should be finished at this time tomorrow. Oh God!!! I needed it before that time. It was the time that I would be presenting, Dr.Box negotiated with them. The result was that Dr.Box had to pay $50 more as an extra charge, so the total was $150 to print a 4x3 poster. I thought Dr.Box was little upset. Before having dinner, we checked in at La Quinta hotel. For our dinner, Dr.Box brought us to a Chinese restaurant. The food were great, really tasty. We came back to hotel around 9 pm., but Aig would like to buy dental floss. Raju, Aig and I went to a grocery store across the highway,Raju who drove the car realized that the key was with Dr.Box. Sweet!!!! Moreover, before we arrived the hotel, we had an accident. The back bumper was damaged, but everything was fine.

In the early morning, we had breakfast at the hotel, Continental Breakfast, and Dr.Box sent us at the Omni hotel. The conference was quite boring, so Aig and I went out to take some picture. The poster session was this evening. Aig and I presented the poster. The poster was interesting. Many people asked about the model and the simulations. When the session was end, we went to an ice-cream cafe, and came back to the hotel.

Sep 18, 2007
Tonight the conference held a party at barbecue restaurant near the hotel. I's bored. The food was not good as I expected, so Aig and I came back to the Omni hotel and waited Dr.Box there. We arrived our hotel around 9.00pm.

Sep 19, 2007
Last day of the conference, today Raju gave a presentation about his research, job scheduling, and we headed back to Dallas around 1.00pm. as well as had dinner with Dr.Box's daughter again at a Vietnamese restaurant. The food were great and the cost was acceptable. Next time we go to Dallas. We will not miss this restaurant for sure. 55555
We came back to Shreveport after our dinner. Raju was the driver, and he got a ticket due to exceed the speed limit right before Shreveport. It costed him $180. When we arrived the Shreveport airport, the parking lot that we parked our car was closed. Thus, we had to come back in the morning to get our car.

Finally, we arrived Ruston around 1.00 am., and in the morning Aig and Raju went for Shreveport again while I slept in my bed. 5555555

A lazy girl

Today I'm so lazy. I don't know why, but I was not in the mood to do my homeworks or preparing the Stat exam. At least I read the whole two chapters on Friday already, so I 'm so worried the test. For my HW, today I had a chance to read through all problems, but I can prove it only one problem. Poor me!! The other use measure, diff geo , etc. almost all my analysis knowledge including some of them that have never learned. Thus, tomorrow I should stop by at the instructor office to discuss with this problem. After posting this, I gonna try to do my HW once. If there is nothing come to my brain, I will give up. The stat test is waiting me.

P.S. I don't forget to upload the pics of Cluster 2007, but I have no chance. BTW, I still did not copy from Aig.

Qualifying Exam just finished.

I just finished my math qualifying exam today with PDE. Numer I took it on Tuesday. I think I did PDE better than Numer na.

There are two parts in each of them, 5 problems per part. I had to choose 4 of 5 problems for each parts, and I had 3 hours. If you do math, you will know that 8 problems for 3 hours. They're not easy tests. I used the whole 3 hours for both.

For Numer, I prepared Numer more than PDE cuz I feel it's more messy and ถึก. It's true. One problem I have to solve iteration with these recursive equations with x0 = -1.8 and y0=0.8.

I iterated 3 times. It still did not work, and I quite sure that it's correct. :_(

So I have no choice. I had to choose the problem that asked me about "stable of the ODE". I have no idea. It's not in the covered topics. For the other problems, I 'm not so sure that I will get the perfect score.

For PDE, ถึกโคตร I had to integrate two functions and times them together and integrate again. That's ...... During the exam, I heard "shit" from someone. Not once but many times. However, I think I did it better than Numer.

The results may be announced in couple weeks.

Now if you think, I have time to rest. Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee, think again. This Monday I have Stat test, and I just did my Stat HW 10 problems. Its due date is tomorrow, but fortunately it's not hard. I learnt them for many times. For another class, Topics in Analysis, it's very hard. I need extra works, read more, do practice more.

For this term, seminar class was added automatically to my registration. I just knew last week, so I have more work. Moreover, I was invited to be a graduate council member of Engineering College. The first meeting was yesterday. It's quite boring. We elected the president, the vice-president and the secretary. I am a regular member. 5555 In this council, there are just 8 grad students. Each of them is a representative from each program. Our major duty is collecting feedback from grad students for the grad Engineering director, Dr.Ramu. Next time I've planned to have more actions. There many things in this college should be improved, at least in CAM program.

Another role that I play in is a secretary of Dr.Box in นักวิชาการไทยในอเมริกา (I don't know the English name. I will post it later.), also Aig.

After Cluster 2007 1

Today I have a few time to post.

For Cluster 2007, I 'm little disappointed. It is a small conference and the papers tend to more implementation. I hoped to learn more theoretical techniques. Since my computer science background is not good enough (i guess), I understand a few of papers. However, there are two papers that are quite interesting. One is a technique to implement loops to parallel programming by using n-dimensional method. Another one is indicating abnormal nodes by using data mining.

I took pictures little bit. I'll post them later.

Before Cluster 2007

I didn't post for one week.!!! That's so quick. Many things to do during the last week.

Finally, I got my RA contract, but I was cut my income also. Now my income is only $500 a month. According to my contract, I have to work only 10 hours per week, but I still work as I got $1000 a month. That's OK because this is my work. My name is on them. However, if I am promoted, it would be great. :D

During last week:
Research:
1. Made a poster in two days. (last weekend) It 's the poster that our paper was accepted.
2. Revise another paper to submit to AINA 2008. I really would like it accepted because I will have a chance to go to Japan. :)

Study:
The real Ph.D. program just began. The math class that I'm taking is quite tough for this quarter. The exact contents is not pure math stuff. i will learn how to applied Mathematics to Physics, and I don't like physics. By the way, it would be ok after I took the qualifying exam, and the HW is not as hard as Mint's HW.

Qualifying Exam:
After I worked on my poster preparation and did my HWs, I read the books till 1-2 am. Fortunately, i have no class in the morning. This is my first time that I feel I may not pass this exam. I have not prepare it well enough, and there are 5+4 chapters to go. I have 9 days left including 4 days at Cluster 2007 conference, Austin, Texas. I hope I can go through it.

Tomorrow, I go to Austin to participate in the Cluster 2007 conference.
Around 8 am., Aig and I pick up our friend at his home, Raju. After that we will pick up Dr.Box, and then go to Shreveport to rent a car that Dr.Box has reserved it already. We will leave my car at Shreveport. Have lunch at Dallas (again) but this time Dr.Box will bring us to a Vietnamese restaurant. For our dinner, a Chinese restaurant is waiting us. Besides these two restaurants, maybe this time I have a chance to taste lobster and Indian food.
I will post along the trip if I have a chance, otherwise after I come back. :D

Good News and ...

Finally, Supercomputing 2007 (SC 07) sent an email to me, and they accepted me to participate in SC 07 as a student volnteer. Yeah Me!!!! 55555 Finally, I will go out of Louisiana and far more than Texas. According to my last post, the conference will be held in Reno, Nevada. It's far from Davis, CA only for 2 hours, so I will try to go to US Davis to meet Nunn again.

For being a student volunteer, I have to work 4 hours a day for 5-6 days, but I may be asked for stay longer which I'm quite appreciated. :D

BTW, I have another ..... news.

Now I still have not signed the assistantship contract because the graduate director of engineering thought that I got a scholarship, so I have had an amount of money. He's kinda don't promise i will get the whole assistantship, maybe just waive my tuition and fee without income.
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BADDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Actually, according to the policy, the performance of students will be the first priority for consideration, but in my case, it's not although my advisor told him for many times that I work great with him. Now, I just wait the director to decide.

The last day of the summer break

My Fall quarter starts tomorrow, and I have two classes , Theory of Statistics and Topics in Analysis.

Indeed, I took the Theory of Statistics in my last term at CU, but I would like to learn it again because at that time, I skipped the class many times due to SciEx 2005. Hopefully, this class will have more details. Another reason that I take this class is the class which I wanna take was closed.

For the Topics in Analysis course, the topic will be changed almost every term according to the instructor. In this quarter, we will particularly consider the Hilbert Space and Banach Space.

In this term, I hope I can publish one paper luckily in a journal. Moreover, I must finish my proposal although I don't have the specific area in the checkpoint technique. This is because I don't want to just propose that I will model an optimal model for checkpointing. (Are u curious about the word "an" for optimal? I use this word since there are many optimal models.)

By the way, my qualifying exam has not scheduled the specific day yet but it'll be in the end of this month, and I have a conference, Cluster 2007, Austin, TX, the week before the exam. Oh....GOD However, before I go to the conference, I should be like a master in the covered topics.

Besides Cluster 2007, I had applied for the student volunteer of the SuperComputing 2007 too, and I am waiting for the result. Actually, it should be announce yesterday, but it is the Labor Day. Today it still is not announced. If I am a volunteer, I will go to Reno, a town near Las Vegas, in December. The program will provide most of meals and residence during I work there. That's great. Dr.Box told me that many parties will be held every night. If we are invited, we can eat for free 5555 and of course the food quality is quarantined.

I really would like to be there.

The long day

Yesterday, I have a good news; my research assistant will be continued, but I have to register as soon as possible. Thus, I send an email to the instructor, Dr. Paun P, who teaches a computer core course to make an appointment. You know what did he tell me!!!!

He told me that "as far as he know the class was canceled". Ohh....what should I do? The computer qualifying exam definitely covers this course. Do I have to learn it myself AGAIN?
The reason that the class was canceled is that there are small enrollment, just 2-3 students.

By the way, I enrolled another course already, theory of statistics, again. I enrolled this class in my last term at CU. However, I hope it would be harder and more details.

I've not mentioned about "the long day", right?

Since I have to register today, i make an appointment with the instructor of the closed class at 1:00 pm.
- Before that, I went to my department to ask the secretary of computer science department to confirm the status of the course, and she confirmed it was closed yesterday or two days ago.
- So I went to Math department to talk with another professor, Dr.Paun M, who I will enroll her class, but she 's not come yet.
- Therefore, I walked to Dr. Paun P's office that is across the campus.
- After talked with him, I went back to Dr. Paun M again to have her signature to enroll the class.
- And then I came back to my department for the secretary's signature $
- and went to registrar office,
- and next to graduate office.
- Almost final destination, I went to the basement of the registrar office again to pay my tuition, but I cannot because last nite I forgot to transfer my money from saving to checking.
- Then, I came back my home, and finally went to pay the tuition.
I guess today I walked about 2-2.5 miles.

It isn't only these. In the late afternoon, Aig and I went to the post office to send a package to แพร อัญ. Also, we went to Walmart to buy a glue and books and to Office Depot.

Although, the distance doesn't seem so long, but the weather is terribly hot.
I really want to sleep but I have to read the books. :_(

P.S. I didn't tell y'guys I got a fellowship from AIG foundation. That's really great.

วิธีทำ
1.ละลายเครื่องแกงกับกะทิ ตั้งไฟ พร้อมกับเอาแซลมอนเข้าไมโครเวฟ ทำให้สุกเลย
2.เอากะทิที่เครื่องแกงละลายเสร็จแล้วลง ใส่แซลมอนทีสุก ไข่ไก่ ใบโหระพา คนให้เข้ากัน ทำให้แซลมอนเป็นชิ้นเล็กๆด้วย
3.โยนเข้าเตาอบ 350-400 ฟาเรนไฮ จนกว่าจะสุก ถ้าไม่อยากเอาเข้าเตาอบก็ไมโครเวฟเนี่ยแหละ แต่มนไม่รู้นะนานขนาดไหน

Actually in this summer quarter, I have to do my analysis homework, but I almost totally forgot. Thus, I did it just two days. On first day, Aug 23, I slept at 4:00 am on Aug 24, and tomorrow I slept at 3:00 am. There are 5 problems left and I think I cannot solve them b'coz they all involve measure and lebesgue. However, I told the instructor already, "I had not completed it yet". The purpose of this homework is checking my analysis knowledge and mathematical stuff (I guess).
I hope the instructor will accept my homework and allow me to register his class, Topic in Analysis.

For my qualifying exam, I think just pray for passing the exam. I am not able to memorize everything both of Numerical Analysis and Partial Differential Equation. Above of all, I still don't know the exam date. I'll do my best. :)

By the way, I have additionally another thing to be worried. My research assistant of this coming fall has not renewed yet. I have no idea why, but if there' s any problem what should I do!!!!!!

I should solve all those problems now.

แต่วันนี้ต้องตื่ตั้งแต่ 6:30 บางคนคงรู้แล้ว มนตื่นเร็วสุดก็ 10 โมง และความโชคดีของมนก็คือ มนตื่นตั้งแต่ตีห้าได้ (พยายามนอนตั้งแต่ ตีสองกว่า) ก็เลยตัดสินใจว่า เลื่อนเป็นพรุ่งนี้แล้วกันเพราะ ต้องขับรถไปสี่ชั่วโมง กลับสี่ชั่วโมง ไม่รวมเวลาหลง อิอิ

พอหกโมงครึ่งโทรศัพท์มือถือสุดที่รักก็เริ่มปลุก เราก็กดปิด ก็ยังพยายามนอนต่อไป ในขณะนั้นโทรศัพท์เอกก็ปลุกเหมือนกัน แต่..........มันร้องจนเงียบเอกก็ไม่ตื่น 55555 มนก็เลยเรียกแล้วบอกว่าไปพรุ่งนี้แล้วกัน

"งึม งำๆๆๆๆ" เอกตอบ สรุปว่าโอเค

หลังจากนั้นอีกห้านาทีด้วยความทนไม่ไหว ไหนๆก็นอนไม่หลับแล้ว ก็ลุกไปสระผมซะเลย

ทำผลให้เอกต้องตื่น แล้วก็เลยไป Dallas กันวันนี้

8:00 น.

ล้อรถหมุน มนเป็นคนขับก่อน ด้วยความคิดว่าเดี๋ยวขากลับหลับแน่

ขับไปประมาณชั่วโมงนึง Nutual is calling ก็เลยหาปั๊บน้ำมัน

ท่าทางห้องน้ำน่ากลัวมาก พอมนจะเข้า ก็มีผู้หญิงคนนึงดินเอากุญแจมาให้ เค้าบอกว่าใช้เปิดห้องน้ำไอ้เราก็งง ใช้ก็ใช้หวะ ไปอยู่นานก็ไม่ออก จนเค้าตะโกนมาบอก Push it push it ท่าทางเค้าคงคิดว่า ไอ้บ้านนอกนี้ ทำไมประตูแค่นี้ก็เปิดไม่ออก สรุปแล้วกุญแจไว้หมุน ที่เลยกระแทกเข้าไปเลย

พอเข้าไปแอบงง ห้องน้ำติดแอร์จ้า ขอย้ำในปั๊บน้ำมันนะ

พอสำเร็จเรียบร้อยก็มุ่งหน้าไป Dallas ต่อ

ที่แรก Highland Park Village

อันเนืองจากกล้องสุดที่รักของเอก sensor สกปรกก็เลยต้องหาที่มาทำความสะอาด เราก็เลยต้องไปที่นี่กัน เพราะมีที่เดียวที่น่าจะมี

ลืมบอก ครั้งนี้ได้ GPS ของอาจารย์ Box มาด้วย

อย่านึกนะคะว่ามีแล้วจะไม่หลง คุณ GPS พาออกจาก highway คนละ exit เลย

วนหาแถวนั้นตั้งนาน เอกก็เลยลงไปถาม เค้าบอกทางมา ก็ไปไม่ถูกอยู่ดี

ก็เลยคว้าเอา google map ที่ print มาดู หาใน GPS อีกที จนไปถึงค่ะ

ขอบอกอยากถ่ายรูปาให้ดูมาก หรูขั้นสุด จะบอกว่าเหมือนที่ไหนดีอ่ะ บอกไม่ถูก

เอาเป็นว่ามันไม่ได้เป็นห้าง แต่เป็นร้านหลายๆร้านมาเปิดด้วยกัน

สิ่งที่บ่งบอกความหรูนะคะ ยี่ห้อรถค่ะ

Lexus เปิดประทุน ประมาณ 3-4 คัน

Mercedes Benz อีกไม่รู้กี่คัน
เอาเป็นว่ารถที่ดูแย่สุดก็น่าจะรถเรานะ ลองลงมาก็ Honda Accord เหมือนกันแต่ปีใหม่กว่า
สุดท้ายคุณเอกก็ไ้้ด้ blower ที่เป่าลมมาหนึ่งอัน

หลังจากนั้นก็ไป Hong Kong Market
ขอบอกหิวมากกกกกกกกกก ตอนเช้ามนกินขนมปังมาสองชิ้น ตอนนั้นก็บ่ายโมงแล้ว

เหลือร้านสุดท้าย เฝอค่ะ มนสั่งอะไรก็ไม่รู้เอาเป็นว่า มีเส้นหมี่ของทางเวียดนาม
ถั่วลิสงโรยมา และหมูย่าง หอมมากกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกกก
แล้วก็มีน้ำจิ้มให้ เหมือนที่กินกับป่อเปี๊ย เราก็ราดเลย
พอคลุกเท่านั้นแหละ ถั่วดิบประมาณหนึ่งกำมือขึ้นมาจากก้นชาม
ตายแน่ กอ สระอู ไม่กินถั่วงอกดิบ แต่ทำไงได้มั่วแต่เลือกคงหิวตายก่อน
กินก็กิน เหม็นมากแต่เนื่องจากความสดก็เลยกินได้ กล้ายเป็นอร่อยค่ะ อิ่มจนพุงกาง

Tomorrow, I will go to Dallas for buying Thai stuff. Aig is making the shopping list. In Dallas, we can find Thai groceries at Hong Kong markets. So we will choose the biggest one (now I don't know which one). Besides Hong Kong market, we will go to Circuit City. It's like Pantip in Thailand. Of course, Aig would like to go there, and he would like to go for cleaning his camera too.
Therefore, I have to wake up early around 6-6:30 am. Oh My GOD!!! I think I can, can't I. Usually, I wake up around 11 am. I'm not a lazy girl. I sleep after midnite. let's say 2-3 am.
I am training myself to avoid jet lack when I come back home. 55555 Maybe, next year I will come back to Thailand na.

Okay, I'm better go now. to sleep???? or play Wii??? (Today, I played Wii totally for 5 hours. This is the last time. I promise, if not, I gonna fail in my qualifying exam.)

Actually, today I would be in Houston, TX, but on Thu 16 I canceled due to a tropical storm, Erin. Houston now is being soaked. Moreover, Aig has not finished the Google summer of code yet. BTW, we've planned to go there later or Dallas, but our trip is likely to be canceled again. There is a Hurricane, Dean. :( It is in category 4. The highest level is 5. And it seems to ashore at the Gulf of Mexico, Texas. Both of Houston and Dallas will be affected. So SADDDDDDD
I don't want to travel but I wanna buy Thai groceries. :_(

BTW, I have not completed my qualifying exam yet, almost there. 55555

Finally, if someone would like to play Wii, you may come to my home. :D

I just finished my term report. (if my advisor accepts it, if not it's kinda sadddd) However, I have another paper to finish within this month, and the qualifying exam is waiting me at the beginning of the coming Fall Quater.

Today is a routine day. Wake up late like everyday, begin my work around 1:30 at the lab, come back home at 5:30, have the dinner, watch TV, and read the books. However, I can post more than 2 lines. see? 5555

Yesterday Aug 6, 2007, Aig and I cooked ข้าวมันไก่ with chayote (ฝักแม้ว) , so we have this recipe for three meals. The last one is this morning. For lunch, I cooked ผัดมะหมี่กึ่งสำเร็จรูป. Now, I have no idea for tomorrow. Maybe let Aig think about it.

By the way, I will read all of contents for the qualifying exam before I go to Houston. After I come back, I have to summarize them; however, I cannot memorize all of them, I guess. For the rest, just pray for luck. Please, help me pass this qualifying exam.

Oh!!!! Term Report Deadline is coming too soon.

Today the first thing I do is checking when the Summer Quater end.
Oh My God!!!! It's on this Friday, so..... I have to finish my term report this Thursday.

How can I do that? My simulation is held for two days because of my weak implementation skill.
So today I spent most of day to make it work, and finally I'm waiting it to computing only 1 parameter for more than 2 hours. Sweet Neblet!!!!

However, two days ago I had a good news. My first paper is accecped although I'm only a co-author, but I 'm the one who revised it. :D The next step of this work is poster.

By the way, I really would like to eat crawfish today, so I decided to have dinner at China Wok Restaurant. So saddddddd. There is no crawfish. :_( Also, the food is not fresh too. Next time, I will go to Hongkok Buffet instead.

Finally, I got that parameter. It' equal to 0.35621047979767684.

Happy Birthday naja Nik

Today I've waited for the result of the poster submission,
but I have not known yet. :_(

For Qualifying Exam, it doesn't progress like my plan.
I've wasted my time to use R and find other software to fit distributions.
It's terrible. Besides, I took my time for doing Numer. exercise so much. Calculators cannot help me at this time. I have to practice using a calculator.

By the way, now my hobby is playing keyboard. let's think it is a piano.
I just begin Canon in D. I will take so long until I'm expert in this song. :p If I can bring my Thai musical instrument, it would be great. I really miss them.

Today I bought two piano solo cds from Walmart; Sentimental Piano & A Peaceful Soak. They're great, and cheaper than those in Thailand. It's around 340 Baht. :D Also, finally, I bought a blender too, but I have no ice to make any drink. 55555

Qualifying Exam Preparation Progress:

After I had read three chapters of Numerical Analysis, I don't want to read it more. This is because the book I read is not arrange the content well. :_( But for PDE I 'm very enjoy. :)

However, there are many chapters left that I have to read. fight!!!

By the way, Aig and I have reserved Super 8 (again) in Houston, Texas on Aug 17 to 19 already. 5555 In Houston, there is a zone called Museum District like Art District in Dallas, and August 18 is the Museum District Day. The great part of this day is almost museums in this Museum District will open with no charge. Aig would like to go there very much because of the Museum of Photography.

Today I have a new recipe, หมูสะเตะ, by Lobo. :D So for my dinner, I had หมูสะเตะ and แกงกะหรี่ญี่ปุ่น I spent two hours to prepare; however, I was so happy. I can cook all day, coz I like eating. :p

By the way, I have not begun the poster yet, my bad. :(

For qualifying exam, I read Numerical analysis 2 sections. It took my time so much. I would like to change the book, but I cannot. It is the referred book in the qualifying exam content.

Tomorrow, I will read Numer. 2 sections PDE. 2 sections. Fight!!!!

And the poster too. Please, accept my poster. I want to go there, Austin. Please, be my first conference in US.

Finally, I'm in mood to up this blog. 5555

Last month, I went to Dallas together with Aig to buy a used car and meet my friend.

Day 1:

I've spent all day to Dallas by GreyHound, a public transportation in US.

This is an only GreyHound bus stop in my town. It's older than me.

I took 6 hours to go to Dallas, and then I went to Enterprise to take my rented car, and go to the hotel, Super 8.

Day 2:

I dropped by ay dealer near the hotel, and met a private seller who was a lucky man.

I 'd made an appointment with him in the afternoon at a department store. I've forgot the name.

Finally, I got the car, Honda Accord 1997 special edition.

It's kinda old but still in good condition. Oh...I still have no photo of my car. (Actually, Aig's car)

After I've got my car, I met my best friend, Nunn on the next day.

Day 3:

Before Aig an I picked up Nunn at her dorm, we've gone to the biggest department store in Texas. In my opinion, Siam Paragon is much more impressive.

In the afternoon, we headed to Nunn's dorm at North Texas University, Denton, and came back to the hotel.

Day 4:

We went to the Fair Park, but I'm little disappointed. There is nothing interesting. The museums is not better than in Thailand so much.

This museum is the best, unfortunately we can not take any picture. This museum presents the history of African people in this country, presenting the discrimination between Black and White people. Before this generation, some places black people can not go to. There is a sign in this musum informs that

" NO Dogs

NO Mexican"

It's very terrible for whom live in the country which they claim the most freedom country.

In the evening, we went to a lake near the hotel.

Day 5:

In the morning, we went to the Art Museum of Dallas in Art District. It's a wonderful place. There are four floors catagorized by the era.

I drove back to Ruston.

Driver's license

Two days ago, I applied LA driver's license.

In Louisiana, you have to pass the class before having an actual test.
And the test includes both of rules ans road tests. It 's quite easy for rule and sign test, but for road test, I almost failed the test before the test start. The tester asked me to turn on the headlight, so I turned it on. But she expressed like I did somthing wrong. So at that moment, I thought maybe I misunderstanded her. It took for a few minutes, and then she showed me what she supposed me to do. So I knew that I totally forgot how to turn on a headlight; however, fortunately she thought I could not understand her. After that I backed off and began the real road test. During the test, I said only two phases; yes ma'am and sorry ma'am.
When we came back to the office, she said only"take a seat, I will call you later". It's very excited; I will pass whether or not. Finally, she called me and said..." you pass". And I got my first driver's license in USA.

Next week, Aig and I have planned buy a used car in Dallas and met Nunn. Finally!!!!!, I go far from Ruston more than 50 miles and I go across state. 55555 But the cost is so high. This trip, I guess, is around $700; in bath hmmm.... 24500 baht. Ohh my god...I gonna spend 12250 bath to travel. I will post it after I come back.

My first blog & post

I have decided to open this blog because I wanna to have my diary. At the first place, I plan to have my own blog when I arrive USA, but there is no time to start. (or I have done other things)

Let's start......

I have been here for 6 months.....yep!!!....6 months, at Ruston, LA (Louisiana). I came for studying my Ph.D. in Computational Analysis and Modeling at Louisiana Tech University. Moreover, I am a research assistant. For my work , I will inform you later.

Let's talk about my city, Ruston

Hmm......Ruston is a university city. Most of the population in this city is students at my U. There is no public transportation in this city, except "taxi". I've known that you have to call to make an appointment with a driver, if not, you don't get it. I walk to school for 5-10 minutes, and I walk to downtown as well. It takes 15-20 minutes. But a few of people walk to downtown. I don't know why it's walkable. The nature is great. There are a lot of lichens and birds. In winter, it's so cold, but rarely snow. In spring, it's very very beautiful. Wherever you go, there are flowers e.g. tulips, and unknown flowers. 55555 In summer, the temperature is high like Thailand, but there are much more blooming flowers including tropical flowers (พุทธรักษา ผกากรอง พุด.....) I will begin to describe my University.

LaTech. (Lousiana Tech University)

My university is a University of Louisiana, but they still keep the old name, Louisiana Tech. Latech is outstanding in area of nanotechnology and biomedical. A lot of Indian and Chinese students study in these programs. Bulldog is the mascot of my U, so you can see bull dogs everywhere in my U. However, I have no idea why is bulldog. My U area is very large. I think it's larger than CU. There are a gymnasium, two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) and two or three football fields, but they are far from my apartment. Thus, I went there once in 6 months.
There are a lot of squirrels in my U, so it makes me miss Cu so much. Hmmm let me stop at this point because I have no idea what's more.

Miss everyone and my dogs. :D
